Wine and Cheese Mixer

Glendale, CA, August 5, 2006 Focus on Children Now (FCN) hosted a wine and cheese mixer for Gavar Special School. Approximately 35 people attended, and it proved to be a lovely afternoon. Terra and Jason Sprague, American Peace Corps Volunteers in Armenia, spoke about Gavar No. 1 Special School and described the projects that are needed to bring the school to a satisfactory level. Michael Ross and Melissa Beck of the Orion Philanthropy Center (OPC) also attended the mixer. Guests were able to ask about OPC's involvement in helping those less fortunate in the greater Los Angeles area as well as Central America and Armenia.

Attendees of the wine and cheese mixer contributed over $16,000 to the capital improvement fund of GSS. Funds collected will be put toward the replacing of the badly failing roof. The roof project is expected to cost more than $75,000 due to the size and complexity of the renovation.

Gavar Special School, Terra and Jason Sprague and the Orion Philanthropy Center thanked the participants and the hosts Siroush & Avo Amirian for organizing the event and providing an opportunity to raise awareness about Gavar Special School!
