Acharkut is a small village in the Tavush region of Armenia, located 160 km from the country’s capital. This tiny village has a population of 165 people, and is a very rural environment, with 35 farms. Having said this, it’s a given that the entire population specializes in works pertaining to agriculture. There are only 35 children in this village with only one school. As you can tell by the numbers, the community is very small, however, they are strong. During the 44 day war, the only son of a large family from Acharkut, Davit Shahnazaryan, died heroically. The family built a garden with the help of their community in their son’s memory, and their wish was to have a playground in the garden so that the happiness of children’s voices could fill the garden at all times. We’re so privileged to be able to install this playground in honor of Davit’s memory, and for the younger generation to flourish with every swing and slide.
