Janfida (Ջանֆիդա) village is located 70 KM from Yerevan on Armavir province’s south-central border with Turkey. From the village, Mount Ararat is clearly visible. Nearby, atop a hill, are the ruins of Urartu’s ancient Argishtikhinilli fortress (776 B.C.). Immediately south of the village is the security zone along the Armenian-Turkish border; the Arax river being the actual border.

With a population of 3,162, and 880 households, the main occupation of the residents is farming. The village has one school (K-12) with 360 students. Because of poor conditions, the only kindergarten in the village stopped operating over 4 years ago. Fortunately, in 2021 the kindergarten was fully renovated with the community funds but unable to open its doors to 120 children due to lack of furniture. Thus, we implemented a bed, bedding, and furniture project at this kindergarten to allow 120 children to attend kindergarten for years to come, as well as create the opportunity for 15-18 full time and permanent employment in the community.
