Goris is a city in Armenia’s Syunik province, located 240 kilometers from Yerevan, with a population of approximately 20,000 to 20,500 people. Kindergarten No. 5, officially known as “Goris Preschool Educational Institution No. 5,” is located at 5 Arzumanyan Street and serves 115 children. The kindergarten operates 11 months out of the year and is equipped with heating.
The building is one of the oldest in the city, having not been renovated since the 1970s—until recently. With support from UNICEF Armenia, three classrooms, the kitchen, roof, and assembly hall were fully renovated. One additional classroom had been renovated earlier through a separate initiative, and another will be renovated by the municipality using local resources. The only remaining need was new classroom furniture for all five rooms to accommodate 150 children.
Thanks to generous support, this final piece of the puzzle has been completed. The kindergarten is now fully equipped with modern, age-appropriate furniture that matches the renovated space, allowing children in this working-class, high-demand area of Goris to learn and grow in a safe and nurturing environment.
