Lusaghbyur (Armenian: Լուսաղբյուր ) kindergarten is located in the Lori province of Armenia about 120 KM from Yerevan. With a population of 1,280 and 330 households, the villager’s main source of income is agriculture and livestock. The village has one school (1-12 grade) with 127 students and the kindergarten is home to 45 children.

Lusaghbyur’s only kindergarten stopped operating after the December 1988 Spitak Earthquake. The reopening of kindergarten in 2011 caused great joy and excitement in the village.  Although the kindergarten has some playground equipment, the children are discouraged from using them due to their unsafe and unhealthy conditions.

Every child should have some fun at a playground. That seems such an obvious statement that it almost seems unneeded. But most children in Armenia don’t have access to a playground. With the installation of a new playground in 2019, we provided the kindergartners the opportunity to play in a safe environment, promoting a healthier and more active environment for growth for years to come.
